The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians is launching a bike sharing program in the village of Pellston, Michigan.

The startup funds are coming from the $4,800 that the tribe won for competing in the Tribe to Tribe Blues Community Challenge in the last two years. The money will be used to purchase bikes and a bike rack

"With Pellston having the highest population of Native Americans in Emmet county, I thought it would be a great place to put something like this," Regina Brubacker, a health educator for the tribe, told The Petoskey News-Review.

The tribe will continue to participate in the community challenge and dedicate future winnings to the project, the paper said. The tribe came in second place this year.
