The "Mandan Tribe" makes an appearance in a fictional television show about the energy industry.

Blood and Oil premieres on ABC on September 27. The plot centers around oil and gas development in the Bakken region in North Dakota, home to the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation.

The tribe is portrayed as "Mandan" in the show, according to Reuters. A trailer shows a map with an "Indian Reservation" and the name "Four Bears" -- an apparent reference to Mato-tope, a Mandan chief who is still revered today.

According to Wikipedia, the show has seen production problems and casting changes. There are no Native actors in any of the lead roles but Kimberly Guerrero, who is Colville, Cherokee and Salish and Kootenai, portrays a sheriff in one episode, according to IMDB.

The show was filmed in Utah and depicts terrain unfamiliar in North Dakota, Reuters reported.
