Louie Gong, a member of the Nooksack Tribe, created a unique gift that was presented to President Xi Jinping of China by the city of Seattle, Washington.

Gong built the Guardian Box at the request of Mayor Ed Murray. It includes elements that represent his Nooksack and Chinese heritages.

"It was a huge honor for my Chinese/Native family when the city of Seattle called on me (with my Uncle Peter Gong) to create this gift for President Xi of China," Gong said on Facebook. "The red/yellow cedar bentwood box features 4 Guardian Lion profiles looking in each of the 4 directions."

Gong's Eighth Generation company just announced the launch of a line of wool blankets.
