The Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is opening a dialysis clinic. The $1.6 million facility will offer eight dialysis stations. That should enable the tribe to serve more patients, some of whom have been traveling 100 miles or more for care, The Mitchell Daily Republic reported. "This is a needed service and we are very thankful that this has happened and will become real very soon," Chairman Bob Flying Hawk said at the ceremonial groundbreaking, the paper reported. Funding for the effort is coming from the tribe, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota and the Indian Health Service. The 3,800 square-foot center joins an IHS dialysis unit in Wagner. That one offers four stations. Work should be finished by March 2016, the Republic reported. Get the Story:
