The Fort William First Nation of Ontario and the Guardian Angels are planning to set up a chapter on the reserve.

Chief Georjann Morriseau met with a leader of the all-volunteer group last week. She said the reserve needs support in its battle against drugs, crime and the sex trafficking industry.

“At the end of it, it was 'we want to come to the community and make it a safer environment for everybody.' And we will make sure we do whatever we can to make sure that happens," Morriseau told CBC News.

The reserve is just across the river from Thunder Bay, the largest city in northwestern Ontario. Native people, including students, there have been subjected to hate crimes and violence.
