Members of the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota will benefit from a new clinic that's due to open in May.

The LaCreek District Clinic is located in Martin. The $1 million facility is a project between the Indian Health Service and the Wild Horse Butte Community Development Corporation.

“We are creating some new positions and will have a nurse practitioner, a pharmacist, nurse, two MSA’s and housekeeping staff,” Alan Davis, the clinic CEO and CEO of the IHS Pine Ridge Service Unit, said at a blessing for the site on February 5, The Bennett County Booster reported. “We have a pharmacist hired and we’re pleased to be able to attract professional service personnel.”

Tribal members said they have been working to get a clinic in Martin for 40 years.
