The boys basketball team from the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska won their first game in the state championship tournament today. The Winnebago Indians defeated the Wahoo Warriors 66-50 this morning at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. The team entered the Class C-1 state tournament with 25 wins and 1 loss and hopes to make a strong showing this week. “We’re not done yet,” senior Mathew Wingett told The Omaha World-Herald after a recent game. “We’re not even close to done. We’ve got three games left, and I ain’t celebrating nothing yet. Our goal is to win state, and that’s what we’re going to do.” The team's next game takes place tomorrow morning at 9am.
