The government in Manitoba, Canada, has agreed to pay for the funeral of a Native woman who was murdered after her mother went public with a complaint. Angela Poorman, 29, was murdered in Winnipeg last December. Her case remains unsolved and her mother asked Manitoba Justice's Victim Services Branch for help with funeral bills. The agency refused, apparently due to Angela's minor crime convictions. But it reversed after her mother, Janett Poorman, told CBC News about her case. "They just stomped on us," Janett told CBC prior to the reversal. "That's how I feel. They just stomped on her." Angela was from the Kawacatoose First Nation in Saskatchewan.
