The Poarch Band of Creek Indians in Alabama has begun work on an entertainment facility that went through some bumps earlier this year.

The tribe always was a partner in the Blue Collar Country project. But after some of the big-name entertainers withdrew, the Creek Indian Enterprises Development Authority took complete control and will be focusing on making it more family-friendly.

“We will be changing the name to broaden the appeal," Tim Martin, the president of CIEDA, told The Atmore News. "Our intent is to make it centered on Americana and create a world-class family friendly resort."

The project will include a hotel and a convention center, Martin said, but other elements are being re-examined. It's part of a much-larger sports and tourism development in the city of Foley.
