The Stillaguamish Tribe and Snohomish County in Washington entered into a law enforcement agreement.

The agreement authorizes tribal police to enforce state law. Officers will be able to arrest non-Indians for violating state law.

"The importance of this agreement is strengthening the law enforcement relationship with the Sheriff’s Office and the capacity to take law enforcement action if needed on persons on tribal lands that are not affiliated to a tribe,” Chairman Shawn Yanity said in a press release.

Officers will handle all calls on the reservation, no matter who commits the crime, the tribe's police chief added.
