Coushatta Tribe anticipates thousands for 20th annual powwow

The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana holds its 20th annual powwow this weekend.

Gourd dances begin at 5pm tomorrow, to be followed by grand entry at 7pm. The tribe will welcome hundred of dancers and drummers and thousands of spectators to the Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder through Saturday.

"They've been hearing about our powwow, and they've heard good stuff, and they're anxious to come down and see it," powwow chairman Lorretta Williams told The Alexandria Town Talk of the increase in turnout.

The powwow was named one of the 10Best by USA Today last year.
