ROSEBUD, SD – The Rosebud Sioux Tribe provided a day filled with activities and prizes geared to the young people of the reservation communities.

On what was the hottest day of the season so far, the youth of the Rosebud enjoyed several games and played on inflatables. Tribal programs had booths set up for attendees to learn more about services they offer. Many programs offered incentives to visitors.

A youth wacipi was held in the afternoon for all who attended. Several social dances were held for the young people, such as the Owl Dance, Two Step and Round Dance. The social dances were called by Sandra Black Bear. Wacipi emcee was Pat Bad Hand, Sr. Despite the heat of the day, people of all ages enjoyed themselves dancing at the wacipi. Fruit and water were available for everyone throughout the day.

A free concert was well attended by the youth. Local Rap/Hip-Hop performances were given by Frank Waln, Kodi DeNoyer and Gunner Krogman.

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe provided gifts for young people of all ages after the wacipi. The youth lined up to receive gifts from local program employees. A great time was had by all who attended.
