The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut broke ground last month on a new housing development.

The development brings some affordable housing options to the reservation. Each of the four units will sell for less than $200,000, The New London Day reported.

“About 18 months ago, we began holding housing forums to try and get an idea of what was working and what wasn’t,” Treasurer Jean Swift told the paper. “We realized we really had to make our housing policies more equitable.”

The tribe is financing the project with the sale of some of its off-reservation properties, the Day reported. The houses will be ready by September.
