Mohegan Tribe welcomes visitors to new sub shop in Connecticut

The Mohegan Tribe has opened the doors to its latest restaurant franchise.

The Jersey Mike's Subs in Meridien, Connecticut, is the first location owned by Mohegan Holdings, a tribal subsidiary. Ten more locations in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts are in the works.

“This, name brand, fast casual segment has shown a lot of success and a lot of growth," Chairman Kevin Brown said at the grand opening of the shop on Tuesday, The Meriden Record-Journal‎ reported.

Jersey Mike's has 1,300 restaurants open and under development nationwide. The chain was the named the fastest growing in 2014 by Nation's Restaurant News.

Elsewhere in the Northeast, the tribe is opening 15 Smashburger locations and 15 Arooga's Grille House and Sports Bar locations.
