The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut will hold an election for three council seats on November 1.

Rodney Butler, who has served as chairman for two consecutive terms, is running for re-election, The New London Day reported. He joined the council in January 2004 and has served four, three-year terms so far.

Other incumbents in the race are Crystal Whipple, who currently serves as vice chair, and Jean Swift, the treasurer, the paper reported. Hoping to make a return to tribal politics are Kenny Reels, a prior chairman, and Charlene Jones, a former council member.

A total of nine candidates have filed for the election.
