The Center for Native American Youth will hold a panel discussion next week as part of Native American Heritage Month. The November 10 event at the Aspen Institute in Washington, D.C., features three Native youth leaders. They will discuss their participation in the Generation Indigenous challenge. The youth will share how they have been able to "overcome obstacles and challenges in their personal lives to achieve success and make a difference for their tribal communities," the center said on its blog. Assistant Secretary Kevin Washburn, the head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and journalist Patty Talahongva, a member of the Hopi Tribe, also will participate. Retired Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-North Dakota), who founded the center, will serve as moderator.
