Alaska tribes are among the nearly 700 beneficiaries of the $940 million Ramah Navajo contract support costs settlement. About $100 million will go to Alaska tribes and tribal organizations, The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported. Amounts range from $8,000 for some villages to nearly $11.8 million -- the largest amount n the state -- for the Tanana Chiefs Conference, the paper said. The settlement resolves self-determination shortfalls at the Bureau of Indian Affairs. A federal judge approved the deal at a fairness hearing last week. Get the Story:
