Ted Cruz won the Republican presidential caucuses in Iowa on Monday night as Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton claimed a narrow victory in the state.

With 99.99 percent of precincts reporting, the Republican Senator from Texas won 27.7 percent of the vote, according to the results. Real estate mogul Donald Trump, who was leading in polls before the caucuses, came in second with 24.3 percent while Marco Rubio, the Senator from Florida, finished third with 23.1 percent.

The remaining Republican candidates -- including Jeb Bush, a former governor of Florida -- each secured less than 10 percent of the vote.

On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Clinton was locked in a tight race with Bernie Sanders, the Senator from Vermont. Clinton said she won with the results showing her with 49.9 percent versus 49.6 percent for Sanders.

The candidates are now turning their attention to the primaries in New Hampshire on February 9.
