The Menominee Nation of Wisconsin has a new slate of leaders.

Joan Delabreau was chosen as chairwoman at the Menominee Legislature's organizational meeting on Tuesday. She is among three women who hold the tribe's top three positions.

"It is a great honor to serve as Chairperson to the membership of the Menominee Nation," Delabreau said in a press release. "Each year our Legislature undergoes a re-organization at which time a new Executive Officers are seated. I am honored to have been elected to serve my nation.”

Joining Delabreau in executive positions are Vice Chair Crystal Chapman-Chevalier and Secretary Myrna Warrington. They will serve for one year.

Delabreau succeeds Gary Besaw, who remains on the tribal legislature.
