The White Mountain Apache Tribe of Arizona busted a large marijuana operation with the help of state and federal authorities.

Over 2,400 plants were seized on the Fort Apache Reservation on August 19, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The crop was estimated to carry a sale value of $2.9 million.

“This is another case of state troopers working with their law enforcement partners to remove illegal drugs from our communities," DPS Captain Jennifer Pinnow said in a press release. "In this case, armed men, working to protect the marijuana crop, confronted a tribal member on sovereign tribal land. Fortunately for all, no one was harmed by this illegal activity before law enforcement could take action.”

The tribal member who was confronted reported the incident to tribal police, which prompted the joint raid of the operation. The Bureau of Indian Affairs also participated in the raid.
