A film about the late Elouise Cobell, who was the lead plaintiff in the landmark Indian trust fund lawsuit, is set for release sometime this fall.

The documentary, 100 Years, traces Cobell's "fight for justice" on behalf of hundreds of thousands of Indian landowners who were never provided with a historical accounting of their trust funds. The Blackfeet Nation woman filed the case in 1996, won several key victories in court and secured a $3.4 billion settlement before her passing in October 2011.

"For fifteen long years, and through three Presidential administrations, Elouise Cobell's unrelenting spirit never quit," the filmmakers state. "This is the compelling true story of how she prevailed."

An exact date for the release hasn't been the filmmakers said last month they were "nearing completion" on the documentary.
