The Sycuan Band of Kumeyaay Indians in California is opening a new museum and cultural center.

The Sycuan Cultural Resource Center and Museum is located within the prehistoric Kumeyaay village of Matamo, the tribe said in an announcement. It will house artifacts that were uncovered at the site in the past year, according to news reports.

The facility replaces a tennis club that the tribe purchased about 10 years ago. Renovations cost about $350,000, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported in January 2016.

The museum is open weekdays and Saturdays, KBPS reported.
