Extradition hearing for Aquash murder suspect delayed

A Canadian judge granted a delay in extradition proceedings for a Canadian Native man accused of murdering American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou-Aquash.

The hearing was scheduled to take place yesterday but won't occur until March 29. U.S. authorities want John Boy Graham released to face trial in South Dakota.

Graham has attracted an international support group that proclaims his innocence. He has criticized the conviction of another man for Aquash's death as a "sham."

A group called Indigenous Women for Justice wants Graham to take a lie detector test. He is refusing the request.

Aquash was murdered and found dead on the Pine Ridge Reservation in February 1976.
