Torres-Martinez Tribe tells tent city to pack up

The Torres-Martinez Desert Cahuilla Tribe of California has told organizers of a proposed tent city for homeless farmworkers to remove the first part of the massive project.
The Global Church, a religious group, erected a 10,000-square-foot tent as the command center for the tent city. But the tribe and Riverside County say the structure has to go.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says the command center is located on private land within the reservation. It is not clear whether this means land allotted to an individual Indian or fee land owned by a non-Indian.
