Citizen Pot Tribe plans housing on land in Kansas
Thursday, April 1, 2004

The Citizen Potawatomi Nation announced on Wednesday the purchase of 6 acres of land in Kansas that will be used for housing and a community center.

The land, in the northeast Kansas town of Rossville, is part of a former reservation, according to the tribe. Plans were not disclosed whether the land will be placed in trust.

"We are looking forward to becoming part of the community of Rossville and providing more services to our tribal members in Kansas," tribal chairman John A. Barrett Jr. said yesterday.

The Rossville center will be one of eight offices around the country that serve tribal members.
