Mohegan Tribe brings back wigwam festival
Monday, August 18, 2003

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut revived its Wigwam Festival this past weekend after a nearly 10-year absence.

The pow-wow returned to the reservation after years of being held off-site. Tribal elders wanted to make it smaller and less commercial, The Norwich Bulletin reported.

Nearly 300 dancers and representatives of 200 tribes participated in the two-day event, The New London Day reported.
