Lummi Nation creates second 9/11 totem pole
Tuesday, August 26, 2003

The Lummi Nation of Washington is donating a second totem pole to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The Honoring Pole, carved by Jewell James in the shape of a bear holding a human, will be installed at the site in Pennsylvania where United Airlines Flight 93 crashed after being commandeered by hijackers. It is being delivered this week.

James is carving two more poles and an arch to be installed at the Pentagon. Last year, his first pole was taken to a New York state park.
