Mont. tribes opening meat packing plant

The Assiniboine and Gros Ventre tribes of the Fort Belknap in Montana are opening a meat packing plant.

The facility will be the second tribally-owned plant in the country, according to the InterTribal Bison Cooperative. The tribes will employ 21 to work with buffalo, beef, hogs and lamb products.

Purchase price of the off-reservation plant was $50,000, including five acres of land.
