West Nile vaccination campaign nearly complete
Wednesday, September 3, 2003

The Navajo Nation is near its goal of vaccinating 5,000 horses for the deadly West Nile Virus.

The vaccinations will end later this month but the tribe will continue other efforts. The tribe is releasing an action plan that deals with a potential outbreak of the virus.

In addition to the tribal program, private veterinarians have been vaccinating horses on the reservation. Two cases have been reported so far, with lab results pending on other tests.
