Signs of inter-tribal trade found at Mex. site
Monday, September 8, 2003

Archaeologists working on a site in Mexico have uncovered evidence of inter-tribal trade.

Marine shells found at Casas Grandes came from the Gulf of California, the team says. And turquoise probably came from northern New Mexico.

New Mexicos Department of Cultural Affairs and Mexicos National Institute of Anthropology and History have been excavating Casas Grandes for eight seasons. The archaeologists say it the bridge between tribes in New Mexico and those in Mexico and Central America like the Aztecs and Mayans.
