Texan convicted for scamming money from tribes

A Texas man was convicted by a federal jury on Wednesday of defrauding investors of more than $1.6 million..

Howard Eugene Liner, 57, took $300,000 from the Upper Sioux Tribe and $100,000 from the Lower Sioux Tribe, both of Minnesota. He was convicted of one count of making a false statement, 17 counts of wire fraud and one count of money laundering.
