Wood from forest thinning being sent to reservation
Tuesday, September 23, 2003

Families on the Pine Ridge Reservation will be receiving wood that was thinned from the Black Hills National Forest.

Low income, disabled and elderly households are on a priority list. Organizers say the wood will be able to supply heat and fuel for the winter.

The thinning project was authorized by federal law but Lakota activists say it damages sacred sites.
