Tribes urged to tap into federal health programs

Tribes aren't taking advantage of all the health grants the federal government offers, a health official said.

Tribes are eligible for 125 programs offered by the Department of Health and Human Services but are only using about 85 of them. The Bush administration is trying to make the process easier for tribes and will continue discussions with tribes in November.
