The two factions of the Meskwaki Tribe Iowa traded accusations a day after one group tried to retake the casino and tribal center.

The elected council, headed by Alex Walker Jr., was unable to secure the facilities. Walker is the federally recognized leader of the tribe but is facing a recall next month.

The appointed council, headed by Homer Bear Jr., called its opponents "thugs" and said it wanted local law enforcement to bring charges against Walker's group.
