Calif. tribe wants to start tribal college
Friday, October 3, 2003

The Coastal Band of Chumash Indians is holding a pow-wow this weekend to raise funds for a tribal college.

The tribe intends to ask others in the state for donations to the "Indian Nations University." It would be the second tribal colleges in the state, after D-Q University.

The tribe, which is not federally recognized, wants to buy a 150-acre site and hopes to raise $160,000 for every 50-acre chunk.
