Editorial: Solutions on Indian juveniles needed
Friday, October 3, 2003

A study of Native American juveniles in South Dakota "isn't a bad idea" but "let's make sure we do it right," The Sioux Falls Argus Leader says in an editorial.

The paper says the study needs to explain why Native American youth are twice as likely as white teens to be arrested or jailed for juvenile offenses. But it must also provide solutions, the paper says.

"We need to know the answer with juveniles, but we need the whole answer - and that includes solutions," the paper says.
