Marijuana farm discovered on Calif. reservation
Wednesday, October 8, 2003

Authorities in California have uncovered a $289.3 million stash of marijuana plants on the Tule River Reservation.

Local, state and federal law enforcement officials say the pot garden is the largest found in the state this year and could be the largest bust in state history. A total of 72,321 marijuana plants were found in the Big Bear Creek area of the reservation. Each plant is worth a reported $4,000.

The Tule River Tribe is helping authorities destroy the crop. It is apparently the second garden discovered on the reservation in recent years.

Police arrested a man identified as Oscar Figueroa, who was working the garden when agents stormed it.
