Cinda Hughes, a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma who is serving as Ms. Wheelchair America, will speak at the Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.

Hughes is the keynote speaker for the department's National Disability Employment Awareness Month program. She will highlight issues affecting viable employment for those who live with a disability.

Hughes is the first Native woman to hold the national Ms. Wheelchair America. She was selected in July. A quadriplegic since birth, she uses a wheelchair for access.

The Labor event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at Room N-3437 A, B, & C, 200 Constitution Avenue, NW.
