Author: 'The Pequots were not a tribe'
Tuesday, October 14, 2003

Brett D. Fromson wrote a book about the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut and still doesn't think the tribe is legitimate.

"The Pequots were not a tribe. I would argue the Pequots today are still not a tribe," he tells The Hartford Courant. He adds: "This is the greatest legal scam I have ever seen."

Fromson wrote Hitting the Jackpot about the tribe's rise to prominence. He was able to interview tribal members and gain access to previously unreleased documents.
