GOP leaders in the House and Senate have told their colleagues to finish work on the energy policy legislation by today, The New York Times reports.

A joint House-Senate conference committee has been trying to draft a final package. But there have been disagreements among Republicans and Democrats about critical sections of the bill.

According to The Times, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Republican of Tennessee, and House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert, Republican of Illinois, said they would finish the bill if the conference committee could not.
