Two tribes who negotiated new gaming compacts with outgoing California Gov. Gray Davis (D) also contributed to his recall campaign, according to the Associated Press.

The Fort Mojave Tribe donated $25,000 to Davis four days before concluding negotiations with Davis. The tribe also donated $25,000 to Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante (D).

The La Posta Band contributed $50,000 to Davis and $5,000 to Bustamante, nine days after signing an agreement with Davis.
