EPA wants assurances of work by San Manuel Band

The Environmental Protection Agency is asking the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians of California for written assurances of working being done on the reservation.

The tribe is grading a hill to make way for housing and other development. Neighbors are worried about flooding, which has occurred in the past.

The tribe is taking several steps to prevent flooding, an attorney said.
