Wind River Head Start program teaches Native languages
Monday, November 3, 2003
The Head Start program on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming teaches Native language and culture to 3- to 5-year-olds. Students are learning the Arapaho Shoshone languages and develop a greater interest in dancing, singing and drumming. But according to a University of Wyoming, interest drops among some students as they enter high school. The reservation is home to the Northern Arapaho Tribe and the Eastern Shoshone Tribe.
