Lumbee high court to consider recount petition
Friday, November 21, 2003

The Lumbee Supreme Court will consider a petition to conduct a recount of the recent tribal election.

Jimmy Goins was elected chairman by 89 votes. but Ruth Dial Woods is challenging the results. The vote difference is too large to trigger an automatic recall so she has asked the tribe's high court to rule on her petition. If accepted, the case could be heard on Tuesday, The Fayetteville Observer reported.
