Native justice commission in Sask. issues report
Friday, November 21, 2003

The Saskatchewan Commission on First Nations and Mtis People and Justice Reform issued its interim report on Thursday.

The five-member commission called for the creation of an intergovernmental working group to address justice issues affecting Native people. The group would be composed of the provincial and federal governments, the Mtis Nation and the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nation. It would ensure that recommendations issued by the justice commission are implemented. Some of the recommendations include hiring more Native police and court workers.
