Native hockey star proud of heritage
Monday, December 1, 2003

Jonathan Cheechoo, a member of the Moose Cree First Nation in Canada, is proud that Cree students have chosen to write a biography about him.

Cheechoo, 23, grew up on a remote reservation in Ontario. He said he drew his inspiration from another Canadian Native hockey player, Ted Nolan, an Ojibway from the Garden River First Nation.

Cheechoo plays for the San Jose Sharks.
