Alberta premier apologizes to First Nation for bill

Alberta Premier Ralph Klein apologized to the Mikisew First Nation for not consulting with tribal leaders about a bill affecting disputes between oil contractors and tribes.

But Klein said Bill 49 would go through anyway. Mikisew Archie Waquan said he and other Treaty 8 leaders oppose provisions that would give the government greater control over blockades on tribal land.
