N.M. tribe given more time to clean up manure
Wednesday, December 10, 2003

Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico has been given two more years to clean up a huge pile of manure it inherited after buying an old race track.

The tribe wants to clean up the mess and reopen the track to horse racing, slot machines and other activities. The track is located outside of Santa Fe on land that is not held in trust.

The manure pile was 200,000 cubic yards when the tribe bought the track in 1996. So far the tribe has removed 160 cubic yards since 2000.
