Wednesday, December 10, 2003

Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico is opening its Computer Training Center to the public next month.

The center will provide the community with classes in computers, the Internet and common computer applications. Students will have access to a high-speed Internet connection at the reservation.

Tribal members have been using the center since November. More than 70 have completed a two-week course, the chief executive officer of the center told The Santa Fe New Mexican.

The tribe received a grant from the Department of Agriculture and a $100,000 grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to purchase computers and other equipment.
