Supreme Court won't hear tribal jurisdiction case
TUESDAY, JUNE 3, 2003

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to review a case involving tribal jurisdiction over non-Indians.

Without comment, the justices let stand a 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that held the Navajo Nation tribal court system lacks jurisdiction to hear a dispute affecting a health clinic located on tribal land in Utah.

In dismissing the suit, the 10th Circuit cited the Nevada v. Hicks Supreme Court ruling against tribal sovereignty.
